The Los Angeles Affiliate of the Armenian International Women’s Association (AIWA) are proud to announce that applications are now being accepted for the Hasmik Mgrdichian Scholarships. The Hasmik Mgrdichian Scholarships were created and established in 2011 to annually award two scholarships of $2,500 each. Applications are now available on line and are open to all California women residents of Armenian descent who are pursuing a university education. Completed applications must be received no later than April 15, 2012 and results will be announced in May 2012. Applications are available on the website aiwala.org.
Diane Cabraloff, President, stated, “We take great pride in creating these scholarships in honor of benefactor Hasmik Mgrdichian. She originally introduced the Los Angeles community to the goals and objectives of the Armenian International Women’s Association and was one of our most outstanding spokeswomen. Hasmik has supported many worthy causes and has always strongly believed in the education and progress of Armenian women and children. We awarded our first two scholarships in May of 2011 at the AIWA Annual Meeting held in Los Angeles. The scholarship recipients were present and it was heartwarming to see their joy in receiving the awards.”
On January 21, 2012, the Executive Board of the AIWA Los Angeles Affiliate met with members of the Armenian Sorority Alpha Gamma Alpha to inform their members of the opportunity to submit applications for the Hasmik Mgrdichian Scholarship Awards and to welcome their participation in future AIWA events.
