Yerevan /Mediamax/. President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian has stated today that he “follows the role established for the institution of President by the Constitution of Armenia and refrains from joining the political debates on ongoing developments, even if the desire to speak as a citizen is great”.
“I follow closely the statements, opinions and calls for action, the responses to those, etc,” the President said in a statement.
Armen Sarkissian has noted he hopes that “ongoing and upcoming changes will contribute to not only efficiency of judicial and legal reforms, but also improvement of all areas of public administration and strengthening of mutual understanding and cooperation between the state and the society”.
“I also hope that public discussions and debates on various topics will lead to results that are good for the country and comply with the national interests. We just need to keep trusting our strength and intelligence. We have to understand that the way of achieving a goal is as important as the goal itself. Let’s discuss our differences and issues, not persons.
A short break and weighing of options is often helpful for moving forward. Let’s admit that today we need unity, stability, the aim for future, a vision, and concrete programs.
Something I have been doing recently and plan to continue is meeting with representatives of political and social groups and individuals, who want to conduct a dialogue and act for the benefit our country and people,” reads the President’s statement.
